Luang Poo Pu, the former abbot of Wat Thalo, Pichit Province

Luang Poo Pu was born in the year B.E.2398 and was a contemporary of Luang Phor Ngern, Wat Bangklan. His amulets although not as well known to modern collectors are equally as powerful.

He was from a poor farming community and ordained as a novice at the age of  16 years and as a monk at the age of 23 at Wat Kern in Pichit province.

The ordination ceremony was held by Prakru Siltararuk, Pra Atikarn Nim and Pra Archarn Rern, who also acted as Pra Upacha, Pra Karmavacharcharn and Pra Anusavanacharn respectively.

In B.E.2437, he was invited to live at Wat Thalo, an old an ruined temple, where he continued his studies and the repair of the temple. His efforts were rewarded with position of Abbot.

In particular he learnt sacred sciences from Luang Por Bhoti of Wat Bhotisri, who was also one of the sacred teachers of Luang Phor Ngern, Wat Bangklan from the same province.

Because of his in-depth knowledge in sacred sciences, especially ancient Khmer sacred sciences, Luang Poo Pu created several kinds of sacred amulets and also sacred-tattoos.

Most of his amulets were created around BE 2459. Pims known to have been created by Luang Poo Pu include

This particulat pim is known as Pra Sondej Pim Kaang U and is verey similar to the Somdej of LP Ngern except less expensive.

All of Luang Poo Pu’s amulets are respected for sacred power that could help protect fro ll kinds of danger and evil, very much like Luang Phor Ngerns amulets but at a fraction of the cost.

Luang Phor Pu is one of those truly great monks that the younger generation has never heard of. It’s rather a shame but I only hope my efforts to bring this information to the attention of my readers do not fall upon deaf ears.

In the year B.E.2467, LP Pu fell ill, passing away several months later on October 4th, B.E.2497, 04.00 am
