Luang Phor Nok - Wat Sangasse

Luang Phor Nok was born on the 29th December BE 2392, Samut Prakan province. As a young boy he studied at Wat Bangbo, until the age of 15 when he was ordained  a novice at Wat Kongkaew in the same province.

Five years later he was ordained a monk at Wat Bang Hia, officially named Wat Mongkon Kotowas, Samut Prakan.
His ordination was attended and confirmed by three senior and now very famous monks, namely Luang Phor Parn, Luang P{hor Tong and Luang Phor Rern. Luang Phor Parn was to have a tremendous Impact on the life of this young monk who studied diligently under his auspices.

It was from Luang Phor Parn that he learnt to create many different sacred , including the amulet for which Luang Phor Nok is most famous, his carved tiger tooth amulets.

Indeed his tiger tooth amulets were so sacred that even Luang Phor Parn himself gave praise to his ability. LP Parn was that impressed that he often asked LP Nok to assist him by etching sacred spells onto many of his own amulets.

Luang Phor Nok Like many monks of his generation would frequently spending his time in forests, caves and cremation grounds, ideal places for developing meditation practice. He wandered through the countryside in quest of quiet and secluded places for developing meditation.

It was on one of these occasions that he was to meet by chance an individual and land owner known as Khun Samangdech, who held the monk in high regard. In fact so much so that he donated land on which he agreed to construct a temple. The temple was completed on BE 2430 and named Wat Sangasse

He duly invited Luang Phor Nok to take up residence as the first Abbot. After consultation with LP Parn, he agreed to take the post and develop the Buddhist faith in the locality. Luang Phor Nok remained at the temple until his death in BE 2475, having served the buddhist faith for 63 years.
